The López and Associates team brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in human resources, workplace safety, and compliance. We have worked across construction, manufacturing, healthcare, veterinary services, transportation, and corporate workplaces. That range of experience helps us shape our advice around how each business actually operates.

Lucía López
JD, MSHRM, PhD
Founding Member & President
Lucía López founded López and Associates to give business owners experienced guidance when employment, safety, and regulatory issues affect their operations. With more than 35 years of experience, she works with owners and executives on wage and hour practices, employee relations, workplace investigations, agency audits, and the decisions that follow.
Her career spans executive HR leadership, workers' compensation, and regulated workplaces. Lucía served as a Regional Human Resources Director for multinational companies, including Berkshire Hathaway and Snap-on Tools. After law school, she worked on workers' compensation matters involving Los Angeles police officers and firefighters, developing practical experience with claims, return-to-work issues, and employer risk. She has also supported businesses through DEA and OSHA audits, corrective action, and complex labor matters.
Lucía served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer and Judge Advocate General Officer, retiring as a Captain. She brings the same direct, disciplined approach to her work with clients: understanding the facts, weighing the risks, and helping leadership move forward with a clear plan.

Madelyn López
Director of Human Resources
Madelyn has worked with López and Associates since 2018. Her background combines HR leadership with hands-on environmental health and safety experience. She helps employers address employee concerns, investigate incidents, develop policies, and build training that reflects conditions in their workplaces.
Jesús Ruelas
Health and Safety Director
Jesús has worked with López and Associates since its inception, bringing more than 30 years of health and safety experience. He helps clients identify hazards, strengthen safety practices, and prepare their teams to respond when something goes wrong.
Michael Lopez
Director of Payroll
Michael has worked with López and Associates since 2025, supporting clients with day-to-day human resources needs. His work includes onboarding, personnel records, employee relations, policy administration, benefits coordination, leave tracking, training support, and payroll processing — including prevailing wage payroll.
Emmanuel Machado
HR Generalist | Employment & Contract Compliance
Emmanuel has worked with López and Associates since 2021, helping employers manage the documentation and procedures behind sound HR decisions. His work focuses on employment agreements, contract obligations, personnel records, and the consistent application of workplace policies.
